Police conducted a raid at the Gulshan office of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Dhaka this morning Saturday 20/5.
A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted the raid at the party office for one and a half hours starting at 8:30am, said Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP chief’s media wing.
Requesting anonymity, a police official, who took part in the drive, said that they conducted the drive at the office with a “search warrant”.
He, however, did not disclose the reason behind the raid.
However, news agency UNB, quoting Officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station Abu Bakar Siddique, said the law enforcers have a search warrant issued by the court to carry out a raid at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office to find out whether there is any anti-state document in it.
BNP activists have been staging agitation in front of the Gulshan office protesting the raid till 11:00am when the report was filed.
