At a meeting of the Council of Native Peoples held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Indian leaders discussed several proposals on the future of the non-American “not authorized” population  staying in the Continent. The elders have decided to extend the duration of citizenship only to people with no criminal record: “We are ready to offer the chance to stay legally on this continent and apply for citizenship”, said Wamsutta, head of the Wampanoag people, “In return, they will have to pay all the unpaid taxes and return the stolen lands of our ancestors. Every person with a criminal record will be expelled within 90 days and will return to their homeland. Justin Bieber will be extradited to Canada without appeal.”

Again: “Illegal immigration has increased dramatically during the last 400 years, particularly from France, Spain and England. These illegal immigrants have stolen our land and colonized the areas inhabited by us the indigenous.”

“Some claim that immigrants are a blessing and they do the unpleasant jobs that the natives do not want more to do, or that the natives claim higher salaries.”

If the council was held with satirical purposes, some of the chiefs have raised the tone of the meeting: “Why we cannot send back the illegal immigrants in Europe?” Said Ite Omácau of the Lakota people. “They came to our country to steal our resources, because they were too lazy to develop their own, I don’t think that it will be enough to pay a simple refund. These illegal immigrants should stand in line like all the other.”

The meeting was an intelligent provocation. The Native Americans have remarked to be the real owners of their country: the condition under which they survive inside the reserves, should make think all of us.
