DEVELOPMENTS ON THE KOREAN SITUATION

The Communist Party expresses its concern about the recent developments in Asia and in particular for the statements of US President Trump and the American government sectors.

The bellicose statements of the USA pose a serious threat to peace in the region and in general a tightening of the tensions between global powers.

North Korea does not represent any threat to world peace, as the imperialists want us to believe, preparing the ground for possible future developments in the direction of a conflict. The Communist Party has always stood for a solution to the nuclear issue in view of the reduction of armaments on a condition of reciprocity. Regarding the Korean peninsula, the United States has always rejected such a possibility, keeping their claims to unilateral acts at the expense of the DPRK alone, therefore unacceptable.

The United States has always refused a peace treaty with Korea, letting even today that the situation on the peninsula is based on a simple “cease-fire” and preferring to keep sending its troops in the South of the peninsula, introducing weapons and increasing joint military activities and simulations near the border. For this reason, the C.P. has always manifested its internationalist solidarity with the “Workers’ Party of Korea” and the Government of the country, reaffirming its solidarity in these difficult hours.

The capitalist crisis, the conflict between powers for the control of the markets, produces the possibility of conflicts on increasingly large scale, as its only tool out of the capital crisis. Right now the situation in Korea would be added to what is already happening in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, and also on European ground in Ukraine. The increase of the imperialist clash threatens to drag humanity to the brink of catastrophe for the interests of the big monopolies, states and the international alliances that support them.

Wrong who believe that from the conflict, and from the multi-polar co-existence of these powers, might arise a balance of lasting peace. Wrong who has pinned hopes for world peace in a mere change of “faction” of the US government summit, forgetting that the imperialist nature of a country can not mutate after a simple change of ruling party.

Only a popular mobilization, the organization of workers for the rejection of the imperialist war can prevent the pressure of events and build a popular opposition to the imperialist policies. The C.P. reaffirming its solidarity with the Korean comrades, closely following the developments of the situation, calls upon the workers and the youth for the vigilance and fight against the plans of the imperialists.

We must not fall into the trap of the “good war” of the fight against “those who threaten peace” as an element of legitimacy of the imperialist actions, prepared ground a long ago by the media. We learned about these lies over the years. The working class and the popular strata have nothing to gain from an imperialist war, all humanity has to lose by the heightening of the conflict, by an eventual imperialist aggression against North Korea.

NO TO THE IMPERIALIST WAR!

SOLIDARITY WITH THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA!
