Garo girls’ rape case in Dhaka tragically increasing

A 12 year old Garo girl had been raped in Dhaka city on 4th August, in the Kuril-Bishwa road area. The tragic accident happened while her mother was off to work. In absence of her mother an oafish local boy, Al-Amin, came in the girl’s house and cruelly raped her.

A report has been readily filed to local police station and the girl was sent to Dhaka Medical College for medical test and other health verification the same day, on evening time.

It is notable that just two and half month ago another tragic accident involved a Garo girl in the same area. The victim, working as a salesgirl at a shop in the “Jamuna Future Park” in Kuril-Bishwa road, was getting away from the work place and coming back home. Suddenly a microbus stopped in front of her and two youths forced her on to it. There were three others in the vehicle. They raped her on the moving vehicle for about an hour and a half before dumping her outside.

Apparently the incidents of sexual violence against Garo women and girls (along with other indigenous girls) are increasing day by day in the capital city of Bangladesh.
