India: Disguises as a man and marries two girls to get the dowry

A 31 year old Indian woman, disguised as a man, managed to marry two girls before being discovered and reported. Krishna Sen, this is his name, loved dressing and posing as a man since childhood, but a few years ago decided to try to use this tendency to get married and catch dowries.

A perfect disguise

It all starts in 2013, when Krishna Sen, who on the Internet had started to call herself “Sweety Sen”, beginned to approach girls looking for a husband. The first to fall into deception is Kamini, a girl from Haldwani. Sen introduces self as the son of a wealthy businessman, willing to cross the country only to meet her.

They get married in a few months, with a sumptuous ceremony. But it does not last long: Sen starts immediately to beat and mistreat the poor Kamini, insistently asking her dowry. He eventally manages to get the equivalent of 15 thousand euros from the family. In the end, Kamini notices the deception (well, something was missing down there?), but was convinced by Sen to keep quiet, in exchange for money.

The second victim of Krishna Sen’s fraud is such Nisha. The latter, unlike Kamini, does not seem willing to suffer Sen’s harassment for a long time and, after yet another mistreatment related to the request for dowry, runs to the police to file a complaint for domestic abuse.

Anyway, the police faced with a real shock, hardly believed Sen’s claims to be in fact a woman. Over the years, she had fallen so far into taking on an extremely masculine attitude, smoking, abusing alcohol and even hanging out with a company of motorcyclists who obviously had no idea of her true identity.

The Haldwani police are keen to let us know that, after a thorough medical examination, Krishna Sen was effectively recognized as a woman.

Now comes the answer to the main question that we are all asking ourselves since the beginning of the story: Krishna has never undressed in front of his wives. The rare intimate relationships were consummated in complete darkness, with the aid of erotic toys that, somehow, managed to deceive both the victims.

The role of the family

Investigators are also ascertaining the role of Krishna’s family in the scam. “Since Sen’s marriages took place in Haldwani,” says superintendent Janmejay Khanduri, “and given that his relatives were present at the celebrations, we are trying to find out if they have played a part in the fraud” (the superintendent certainly wants to compete with Sherlock Holmes).

Neha Sharma, a local psychiatrist, defined Sen’s case: “By refusing to accept one’s sexual identity and therefore one’s own existence, this woman seems to suffer from a serious personality disorder [which has very few to do with homosexuality]”.

Unfortunately for the two wives, the police will not be able to blame Krisha for domestic abuse, since – being a woman – technically for indian law she did not play the role of a “violent husband”, hence he couldn’t accordingly abuse the wives.
