North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un came to power after the death of his father Kim Jong-il in December 2011. Here, we take a look back at some of the most interesting photo opportunities that he has taken part in during his time in charge of the highly secretive state.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has continued to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea with a night out watching the secretive state’s top girl band. The all-female group known as the Moranbong Band joined the leader and his wife for a photograph as they listened to another group called the Chongbong Band.

Kim Jong-un visited the recently refurbished Phyongchon Revolutionary Site in central Pyongyang. The museum regularly appears in official documentaries about revolutionary history and on the DPRK’s military industrial complex.
North Korea has launched a new policy, targeting citizens with long hair and suggesting them to copy Kim Jong-un’s much-mocked ‘ambitious’ style. Here are three examples showing the leader’s luxurious black ‘barnet’. Sources in Pyongyang, quoted by South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper, said authorities in the North Korean capital have issued a circular encouraging that men keep their hair to a maximum 2 cm (0.8 inches) in length.
