Bangladesh: Hindu persecution is on the rise in the country

In the last one year, 152 members of the Hindu community have been killed in the country, said the National Hindu Grand Alliance. Violence against Hindus had increased in 2018 as compared to 2019. Compared to that, violence had increased at an alarming rate in 2020. Again, Hindu torture has increased several times in 2021 as compared to 2020. Thus, Hindu persecution is constantly increasing in the country.

Secretary General of the organization Advocate Govinda Chandra Pramanik unclosed this alarming report in a written statement at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on 30th December 2021. Advocate Deenbandhu Roy, executive president of the Grand Alliance, senior vice president Pradeep Kumar Pal and others were present at the time.

Govinda Chandra Pramanik said 41,791 families have been evicted in the last one year. Eight thousand 943 families have been threatened with eviction. Besides, 9,261 families have been forced to leave the country.

At the press conference, the grand alliance demanded re-establishment of 60 reserved seats in the National Assembly and separate electoral system and establishment of the Ministry of Minority Affairs to prevent violence and torture against the Hindu community and to ensure representation of the Hindu community.
