A senior North Korean official says it wouldn’t hurt for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and America’s presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump to meet face-to-face if Trump makes it to the White House.
The remarks come a matter of days after Trump said he would be willing to sit down with the young North Korean leader if it could lead to the regime’s denuclearization.
Yang Hyong-sup, who serves as vice-president of the Presidium of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly, told the Associated Press that as long as the U.S. doesn’t attempt to (quote) “suffocate us like last time”,. it wouldn’t be bad at all to have a dialogue with Trump.
Yang also said the fate of the two Americans detained in the North can be discussed if Washington comes forth with the right attitude.
