N. Korea: Kim Jong Un is now the tilt of the scale of world equilibrium

Just assumed the most important position of the country, the president-elect Donald Trump will have to deal “almost immediately” with the growing North Korean missile threat.

“Usually, we measure the temperament of the Presidents according to unexpected crisis that they must manage,” said Victor Cha, senior adviser and in charge for Korea issues at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “In the case of President Bush, the attack of September 11 has obviously changed dramatically every element of his presidency. For the president-elect Trump, this crisis might come from North Korea.”

Speaking to a committee of the CSIS Global Security Forum, Cha added that North Korea “will challenge the new president almost immediately after taking office”.

The North Korean experts explain what Kim Jong Un wants

The traditionally aggressive regime has been very active in 2016 with an increasing rate in missile tests. The North has launched 25 ballistic missiles this year and is practically the only nation that has detonated a nuclear device in this century.

“At each launch conducted it learns more. Increases its competence,” said at the meeting the US Army General (Ret) Walter Sharp, a former commander of US occupation forces in Korea.

“The resolutions opposed to this policy by the UN Security Council have been numerous, and I personally think it’s time to accentuate this policy,” Sharp said.

The acceleration and the frequency in the tests shows not only the nuclear ambitions of the North but also that the “rogue state” has virtually developed an arsenal.
