Turkey: 7000 Turkish military surrounding US base

Thanks to ORIZZONTI GEOPOLITICI blog di Luciano Bonazzi Resistenza 3.0 for the article.

7000 men of the Turkish Forces heavily armed surrounded the US air base where are kept the new “B-61” nuclear missiles, while it was going on the securing of the warheads.

The massive presence of pro-Erdogan militants and police supported by heavy vehicles have jointly developed a sort of belt that surrounds and blocks the Incirlik base. This means that no one from the base is allowed neither to enter nor to leave.

For now no one understands why the 7,000 armed police and militant pro-Erdogan are besieging the base with heavy vehicles, surrounding it and blocking it, what we do know for sure is that the Incirlik air base is used by the United States and therefore by NATO to store nuclear missiles.

What we can see through a few official pictures and some posted on twitter and personal blogs, show heavy vehicles ready to enter the air base of Incirlik.

After the base has been blocked, the turkish Minister of European Affairs Omar Celik, who was asked to account of the action, stated that it was a simple “safety inspection”, while local newspapers speculated that a second attempted coup was in progress.

As mentioned, the US has installed in the base 50 (90 according to some reports) tactical nuclear warheads, while a 60 more have been placed recently in Italy, in contravention of the nuclear non-proliferation treaties signed by our country.

The block of the Incirlik base follows the massive protest of Thursday, when the pro-Erdogan militants had taken to the streets screaming “Death to the United States” and calling for the closure of the base. The security staff had removed the protesters who were trying to enter the base, but at the moment we don’t know much more.

According to an article of Bloomberg, at 3 PM the Turks would have restored order around the base, but beyond that we have no other news. Also we must keep in mind that the Italian television news did not talk about it.
