Bangladesh’s per capita income rises to $1,316

We can declare finished forever the time when the people of Bangladesh lived on less than $ 1 per day of income.

The figure based on data of 2014-15 fiscal was released on Tuesday. Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal briefed the media after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). In 2013-14 fiscal, per capita income was $1,190.

An analysis of data from July to March period indicated a GDP growth of 6.51% but a final analysis revealed a 6.55% growth during 2014-15 fiscal, he said.

“Per capita income rose as a result of increased growth. As per preliminary analysis of data, per capita income was $1,314. But the final count showed that it was $1,316, two dollars more.”

Bangladesh’s economy ranked 58th for its GDP size, the minister had said last year. It was in 36th place for its Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), which amounted to $3,190.

Comparing these stats with some reports from Italy, the curious thing is that in October there were recorded only 46 refugee request of Syrians fleeing the war and well 1,233 request of people from Bangladesh, where there is no conflict and economical situation is significantly improving. Italy has only rejected 29% of applications and even 10% of the asylum seekers was untraceable.
