Migrants: Refugee fleeing from killer apes appeal to the Immigration Court

Seek “asylum” is today a major trend and being “refugee” a status symbols. But sometimes the stories that are heard reach the paradox.

Emblematic is the appeal submitted on 15 December 2008 by a Ghanaian citizen, represented by advocate Constantine Nardella. As reconstructs the judge Achille Bianchi in a sentence filed in recent days, the migrant and his lawyer have wrote down an incredible story to motivate the alleged meaninglessness of the denial. “The man has narrated at the hearing – writes the judge – that he lived in the city of Sunyani, now invaded by apes.” Yes, apes. “One day – swears the man – the father had killed a monkey which was climbing a tree near their house. A few days later, then, there has been an invasion of about 1,500 apes, who had destroyed the house and killed his mother, at that moment all alone.”

The story about the invasion of killer apes, however, does not end here. The young man said that “came back from work and found his mother bled and lifeless, he left the country on August 2, 2007. And after passing in Libya, in July 2008 he finally arrived in Italy.” From here, the asylum request: “I am terrified to return home – said the man, through his lawyer – because I’m afraid of the apes that live in my city and coexist with the men whose village they occupied and are imitating human manners.”

The story – science fiction? – did not convince completely the judge. “The chronicle – it’s written in the judgment – is questionable under the terms of the likelihood: the story according to which in the city of origin would not exist the minimum security conditions because of the settlement of the apes does not appear directly believable.”

Our hope is that the killer apes stop in their violent uprising.
