China warns South Korea: no to the US missile shield
During a meeting with the President of South Korea Park Geun-hye, the China State Leader Xi Jinping said that Beijing strongly opposes the deployment of elements of the American missile defense system “THAAD” on the Korean peninsula, reports the “Xinhua” news agency. “An inappropriate decision of the question does not help to ensure strategic stability in the region and could exacerbate existing conflicts” – said Xi Jinping at a bilateral meeting with Park Geun-hye on the sidelines of the G20 works.
The system THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) is designed to intercept short and medium-range missiles in high altitude flight. Seoul claims that the range of the missiles does not exceed two hundred kilometers and the missile defense system is aimed exclusively to combat any North Korean provocations. According to expectations, the THAAD system will be deployed in South Korea by the end of 2017.
In response to the displacement of THAAD plan, Pyongyang has threatened to take “physical measures” against the project.
Also China and Russia have expressed concern about the intentions of Washington and Seoul.

N. Korea Launches Three Ballistic Missiles in Direction of Sea of Japan

The North Korean authorities have launched three ballistic missiles, South Korean media reported Monday 5/9.
According to the Yonhap news agency, the launches have been made in direction of the Sea of Japan.
